SUGARCREEK, OHIO, (March 1, 2006) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have named Precision Entry, Inc. the ENERGY STAR 2006 Partner of the Year in Door manufacturing for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing and educating consumers about energy-efficient products. Precision Entry’s accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2006.
ENERGY STAR award winners have been selected from the 8,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program. Precision Entry, Inc., an ENERGY STAR partner since 2002, will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing products that earn ENERGY STAR, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency. In 2005, Precision took the innovative step of manufacturing ALL of their entry door systems as ENERGY STAR qualified.
Last year alone, with the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans saved $12 billion on their energy bills and enough peak energy to power 28 million homes. Through those savings they avoided greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 23 million vehicles. By choosing ENERGY STAR qualified products, the typical household can save up to 30% on its energy bills – more than $450 per year – while improving home comfort and helping the environment.
"Manufacturing products that earn ENERGY STAR is good for our customers and for the environment," said Bill Mullet, President of Precision Entry, Inc. "We are able to create the superior products our customers expect while helping reduce carbon emissions. That’s good business and good stewardship."
The Partner of the Year Award is given to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from thousands of organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program each year.
"Manufacturing partners like Precision Entry are vital to improving efficiency across the country," said Kathleen Hogan, director of EPA's Climate Protection Partnerships Division. "Companies like Precision Entry have made outstanding efforts to give consumers the option of choosing energy efficient products that save money while educating them about the benefits for the environment."
