SUGARCREEK, OHIO (April 18, 2007) – Monday, April 16, Congressman Zack Space visited the facilities of Precision Entry, Inc. in Sugarcreek in honor of the company’s achievements for manufacturing energy efficient products.

Recently, Precision was named the Energy Star 2007 Partner of the Year in Door Manufacturing by the U.S. Department of Energy (D.O.E.) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.).  This is the second consecutive year for Precision to be awarded with this prestigious honor.

Precision has been an Energy Star® partner since 2002; however, two years ago the company took the monumental step of ensuring that ALL their entry door systems were Energy Star® qualified.  This enables homeowners to rest assured that any door style they select is energy efficient.  This proactive step, along with an aggressive marketing plan promoting Energy Star® has secured this award the past two years.

During Congressman Space’s visit, he met with various managers and employees then toured Precision’s state-of-the-art door manufacturing facilities.  Bill Mullet, the company’s president, spoke with Congressman Space about various issues facing businesses today.  Mullet commented, "I was impressed that his vision to get the job done appears to take precedence over loyalties to a political party."

One topic of discussion was the "Energy Policy Act of 2005" which allows consumers to receive a tax credit for purchasing energy efficient products.  Tax credits are available for many types of home improvements including entry doors, storm doors, storm windows & replacement windows. This tax credit applies to improvements made from January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2007.

Mullet would like to see this Energy Policy Act extended past 2007 since, "The tax credit is good for homeowners and good for business because it causes energy efficiency to be on the forefront of everyone’s mind."  Congressman Space expressed an interest in this issue.

In addition to the topic of energy efficiency, Bill Mullet and the Congressman took the opportunity to discuss potential solutions for healthcare.  Both agreed that Precision’s philosophy of being proactive before health problems arise is vital.  Recently Precision implemented their Wellness Program with the help of local Dr. Kindra Browning of New Philadelphia.  Employees underwent private health screenings to help each individual identify potential health risk areas.  Also, an aggregate of the data was reported back to the company’s management team along with recommendations for targeted wellness initiatives.

Congressman Space stated, "For the second consecutive year, Precision Entry has received the EPA's Energy Star Partners of the Year designation.   This national recognition makes it very obvious that Precision Entry has distinguished itself as one of the leaders in environmental protection through energy efficiency in the United States.   Mr. Mullet and his team are to be commended for their leadership in this area and for their success as a growing and thriving small business."
